Spring 2012 Lineup – About Our Shows

Programming
Beyond the Moat

EIV’s Beyond the Moat is a web television show that focuses on the travels, adventures, and lifestyles of the Kasteel Well student.

With four segments per show Beyond the Moat is an informative, hilarious, and entertaining web series that aims to take the viewer into the heart of castle life.  Make sure you catch an ‘episode’ of ‘Real World: Kasteel Well’ a mock on the once popular MTV series.

Expect to find a news segment inspired by television personalities such as Stephen Colbert and John Stewart to catch you up with what is going on with students at Kasteel Well, and recap what has been going on in Boston with segments like ‘Tweet of the Week’. It is also the place to find interviews with various castle staff and students to truly find out what is Beyond the Moat.

Fight for the Spotlight

Prove yourself in Emerson College’s newest trivia game show – “Fight for the Spotlight!” Contestants will answer student-submitted, entertainment based questions and battle their way to the top! Grab three of your friends to put your heads together and your minds to work! Don’t feel like competing head-to-head?

Challenge your peers by submitting questions to spotlight@eivtv.com, then watch the show to see if they know as much about entertainment as you do! From Mad Men to Boyz II Men – prove that you and your friends know it all! to We know we’re ready…are YOU?

Let’s Take the T

Let’s Take The T is a competition-reality show that sends two teams out to explore the city of Boston. Each team is randomly selected to be sent to a stop off of one of the ‘T’ lines. The teams are sent to equally distant locations and must race back to the Boston Common in order to be deemed the winners. Upon arriving at their T stop, each team is given three challenges that they must complete throughout the course of the night.

Challenges are a combination of physical and mental obstacles that must be completed in order to advance. The first team that successfully completes each challenge and makes it back to Emerson first wins.

The Dish

The Dish is one of EIV’s longest running TV shows covering all the latest news in national entertainment news and gossip. Airing every other week, you get a our take on top stories and the biggest stories in TV, music and movies. The TV correspondent tells you “What You Should Be Watching” while the movies correspondent makes sure you don’t miss the latest flicks. Field correspondents take to the streets and get your opinions on the latest gossip or they explore what the Boston entertainment world has to offer. The Boston Brew keeps you updated on gossip and cool events going on in our own backyard. Have you ever wondered how Boston is connected to the entertainment industry? Well be curious no more, because “The Dish” is dedicated to showing you what’s going on just a T ride away! In #whatwereyouthing, our correspondents and hosts pick *ideal* celebrity tweets from the past few weeks, and analyze what they said. Did you miss what Ke$ha was doing in her underwear in Toronto? Our fabulous commentators will let you in on what celebrities were where, and give you their insight on why they would even tweet that in their first place.

New this semester is The Side Dish Vlog, a bi-weekly studio update covering the most important news of the week that we DON’T get to on the show: Hook-ups, pick-ups, fall-outs and make-outs. Plus get more TV reviews and extra content! Head over to thesidedish.tumblr.com

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

They might not be the most athletic, but their mouths can move with the best of them. Watch these sports savants battle all season long on Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Their goal: bragging rights as the king of sports knowledge and the UC championship crown.

Who will win the World Series? Which team will emerge from the lockout on top? How would a chef describe the taste of the NBA Playoffs? Get all these answers and more this Fall, only, on U.C.

The Uplink

The Uplink is a live host-based variety show that focuses on technology, movies, and video games with the added energy of an in-studio audience. This edgy, entertaining show is your one stop for news and entertainment – but rather than hearing about the latest Lindsay Lohan slip-up, you’ll be staying up to date on digital culture, the web, and everything tech. Yeah, that’s right, there will be plenty of hashtags.

Funny Stuff

Outlandish and downright hilarious, Funny Stuff is a live sketch comedy show hosted by Chris Hyacinthe. With him at the reigns be prepared to laugh as he guides you through sketch after sketch of unconventional, rib-tickling scenarios until we arrive at the live performance.

Coffee Talk with Garon

Garon, a Muppet-size puppet with human-size dreams, hosts his first talk show from his apartment just blocks away from Emerson College. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Garon has grown up admiring the typical Emerson student – he even custom made a plaid suit jacket in order to fit in on campus. Lately, Garon has become obsessed with the new president, Lee Pelton, and has decided to start this talk show in the hopes of one day getting President Dr. Pelton on his couch. He also is excited at the possibility of becoming an Emerson “celebrity” and plans to interview all the important Emerson up-and-comers in order to figure out what makes them so cool.
