What is EIV?

EIV (Emerson Independent Video) is Emerson College’s oldest and largest television and video organization.  The student run television and video production company operated out of Emerson College in Boston.  The organization is completely student run and is overseen by the student management board and a faculty advisor.  All of EIVs programming and newscasts are produced and crewed entirely by Emerson students.  EIV content is aired on The Emerson Channel, the Emerson Journalism Channel, and on the web.

How can I pitch my ideas for shows?

Regular programming pitches take place at the end of every semester for the next semester’s programming slate. Before these pitches, anyone can meet with the EIV Management team to develop and refine their pitch packets. The deadline and information about pitches will be listed on the general calendar when the deadline nears, and information will be sent out in member emails.  Also, if you are interested in pitching a Special Production, email info@eivtv.com.

What can EIV do for me?

We also provide production facilites, equipment, funding and distribution to aspiring producers. For more, check out our Staff Stories!

When is the EIV Office open?

Unit

Where do I get DV tape for shooting packages?

The unit manager is in charge of the DV tape. To get a tape, go into the cabinet by the editing suite and there is a form to fill out with your name and information. Then you may take a tape. Take only what you absolutely need. Or, an even better option is to use a one-pass tape!

What is one-pass DV tape?

If you are feeling like a superstar, you will opt to use the one-pass tapes, located in the cabinet by the EIV office door. They are tapes that have already been used but you can record over them with new footage. Please use these tapes as they are a way to recycle and save money!

How do I guarantee there will be an editing station available to me?

Reserve it ahead of time! Go to the website and click on “Members” and then “Member Resources” to find the link to the form. Once you fill it out, the Unit Manager will email you to confirm your reservation. Executive Producers should e-mail the Unit Manager directly to book recurring reservations (recurring reservations must be renewed monthly).

How do I book office space for meetings or workshops?

Email the Unit Manager directly at unit@eivtv.com at least 48 hours in advance.

Help! I’m having trouble with the computers, software, or tape decks, what do I do?

Email the Unit Manager at unit@eivtv.com for help! Your problems are my concern.
